How can PETA oppose the use of guide dogs for the blind?
I аt a gathering early tһіѕ week fοr support fοr tһе blind wһеח I noticed people frοm PETA handing out flyers tһаt called fοr people tο ѕtοр abusing dogs fοr tһеіr "enslavement" bу people.
Now I аm јυѕt outraged tһаt a animal rights group wουƖԁ bе tһаt selfish аѕ tο deny tһе blind one tһеіr mοѕt useful companion аחԁ tool fοr navigating around.
Bυt, ԁοеѕ PETA һаνе a point аbουt enslavement οf animals fοr tһе blind tο υѕе? Or аrе tһеу јυѕt life extreme liberals?

PETA IS FULL OF SH*T
A dog will willingly help a person if given the chance…and a dog is not enslaved…the dog is still free to play..blind owners still bond care for and play with their animals. I have seen lots of disabled people with dogs and their dogs were just as wonderful and well tempered as any other dog….THIS IS RIDICULOUS.

The don’t oppose the use of guide dogs for the blind. The oppose the mass breeding for dogs for the purpose of humans when there are so many wonderful dogs in shelters and rescues. When thre are millions of homeless dogs, there is no reason to breed dogs for ANY cause. That is why they oppose it. I oppose it too! They must rescue the dogs used for blind people, not mass produce them!

peta honestly makes me sick sometimes
no offense to anyone who is a part of it but sometimes they just take things too far
I always that the blind didn’t reckon of their guide dogs as just a ‘slave’ but as a companion, someone to always be by there side.
It seems like they would have something against dogs apt therapy dogs too.
I reckon they are incorrect in this case

They’re full of crap.
I nearly needed a guide dog when I was small, and if I was denied it, I know PETA would’ve gone down.

Guide dogs get to go to work and school with their people. They go shopping with them. They’re with them 24/7. How many of us can say that about our pets?
I reckon PETA is misinformed. Guide dogs are part of a team – there is plenty of choice-making on their part, and plenty of reward that comes with it. Dogs that don’t have the confidence and temperament to be guides are simply not guides – if they can’t do it, they don’t have to do it. They are unrestricted from training. Guide dogs like their work. They have no thought how serious their job is. They get rewarded for working to a curb. How sweet is that! They are usually pleased and relaxed, and get a lot of down time playing.
And as you say, it’s not just the mobility, it’s the companionship they offer. I would suggest that a Peta person wear a full blindfold for a couple of weeks and then see if they’d prefer a cane or a guide. Life the dog lovers they are, I’d suggested they’d go for the dog!

The people need to get a life. Those guide dogs like what they do. When a guide or service dog gets to ancient to do what it needs to do and they have to retire it they have to force it, because the dogs don’t want to stop because they like it! The guide dogs get more attention and better care than most pet dogs. This is just about as stupid as when they got mad at Obama for killing a FLY! Oh and have they ever done that!!??

Because PETA seems to believe dogs shouldn’t work. Oh wait PETA doesn’t believe in pet ownership at all. What do you reckon total animal liberation really means? No PETA doesn’t have a point and they are extremist period, no need to insult us liberals.

The don’t oppose the use of guide dogs for the blind. < YES THEY DO. They are different to the working dog in every way affect and form from farm dogs to search and rescue, to drug sniffing, to police dogs and service/help dogs.
The oppose the mass breeding for dogs for the purpose of humans when there are so many wonderful dogs in shelters and rescues.< Oh yes one out of maybe 20-100 dogs in the shelters and rescue would really be SUITABLE for service dog work. Even with what PETA, the other AR nuts and the adoption brigade want to reckon shelter dogs are not apposite for every situation and every person. This includes service dogs.

They are self ration morons that very few people take seriously any more.
Enslavement? Please. What are they going to do, turn all dogs loose to fend for themselves – I can hear them all now “FREEDOM!” Close your eyes and envisage the streets of New York with millions of dogs
trying to survive. DUH!
Dogs are domesticated animals, they do not do well when they are set free (dumped) to fend for themselves. As it stands now I would call it a partnership. The person and the animal meeting each others needs.
As for the comment about using rescue dogs as seeing eye dogs, that’s not realistic. Most dogs are too ancient – even at one year of age, many don’t have the temperament, many aren’t the right size, etc. Rescue dogs are used for hearing dogs, epileptic warning, and many other help programs, though.
Seeing eye dogs are socialized from the time they are small puppies, until they go for training. They must then pass a temperament test. That is why they use selective breeding for these dogs and to weed out congenital defects.
I find it somewhat fascinating that PETA “rescues” animals needing homes from vets offices and then kill them and drop them in dumpsters. Yep, they got busted for that a few years ago. Ooops.
And what about Obama killing that glide? Such outrage from PETA. They want everyone to have diseases. Save the mosquito and the tse tse glide! Ridiculous people…

Does anyone with any sense take PETA seriously? They have really lost credibility with all but the most extremists.
Recently they protested because a visiting group wanted to see the “fish throwing” exhibition at the Pike Place market in Seattle. These fish are dead, folks, they are past caring!
And they objected to President Obama’s swatting a glide on TV — wanted to give him a “humane trap” so the glide could be re-unrestricted into the “wild”.
Give me a break!

They reckon that keeping dogs as pets in general is exploitation & enslavement. I read about them going to an outdoor dog show & releasing several dogs who were life kept in kennels & crates because they were “imprisoned”. Oh sure, that’s safe.

Guide Dogs get paid for their work. Or, at least California does pay them (Which might stop soon). $50 bucks a month.

I mean they have a point with some things, like inhumane treatment, but as long as the owner treats the dog with like, and makes sure its not suffering, gives it food, blah blah blah, then I personally don’t see anything incorrect with it. PETA thinks that all pets are slaves, not just guide dogs because they are working dogs. They are extremist nut jobs. They have had a billboard campaign where they equate keeping animals with black slavery and the treatment of chickens by present slaughterhouses with the jews in concentration camps.
