We are the care takers of this planet and we are doing a horrid job of protecting animals- wild or pets.
We need to reach children about protection so as they grow up they will not be tempted into activities like dog fighting the way Vickers, the football star, did. We must install like of all animals on the planet before we can teach people to do a better job of caring.
Me must stop all animal cruelty: animal slaughter methods, animal farming methods, medical research, zoos and circuses, pets in the home, and all wildlife.
why is it i feel terrible when i hit a dog? a dog don’t know any better . i will never feel terrible hitting a human. a man knows better. animals are far better then a buch of PETA/ tree huggers .. im sorry i despise them dog eatin fools to.. and i hope they take vick out at the knees.:)GO ANY TEAM.
Well, cruelty against animals is a terrible thing in and of itself. There are certain animals (besides livestock) that have been bred to trust us, like cats and dogs. We have a responsibility to them because we have guided their evolution to make them apposite for companionship.
But the main reason we need stricter policy against animal cruelty is that people who deliberately cause animals to suffer are sociopaths (psychologically, they are not human).
The quality that we call ‘cuteness’ is really an evolutionary adaptation. Small animals like kittens or puppies have really evolved a affect that causes many other species to reckon of their own young when looking at them. This is not a matter of preference but of wiring – a person who can harm a kitten or puppy does not have the wiring that would stop a normal person. That same wiring is what stops you and me from hurting babies or children.
A child, especially, cannot reckon of harming an animal unless something is incorrect with them, and we need to institutionalize such people before they harm human beings (which it is in their nature to do, and would be their greatest thrill).
So the main reason is that pets are the canary in the coal mine – with excellent policies on the books, you can use them to identify the next John Wayne Gacy before he gets to a human victim.

What we need are stricter penalties on cruelty to humans!
