The laws are commonly referred to as the PETA doctrine.

If they come at me I will use my right to self-protection.

I am a HUGE animal person. I support the Humane The upper classes as well as local shelters… but PETA is a different report.
They use pretty hideous tactics that border on criminal which does NOTHING for their cause.
They use harassment and assault, which to me is the opposite methods one would want to use when promoting human and animal harmony.
P.S. They do get arrested, but that rarely stops them.

It’s assault at the least and conspiracy to commit an act of terrorism at the worst. In between lies a large number of possible charges to bring against PETA thugs.
BTW, animals only have one right: to go excellent on a bun.

If someone hurts your property, whether they are from PETA or not, you must be able to legally demand compensation if you can catch them or know who they are. It would be really hard, but, to hold an entire organization responsible for one personnel events unless it was proven they were commanded to commit the crime.
If anyone tried to throw paint on me for intake a hamburger, you can bet your arse that I will chase them down and force feed them a slab of raw veal… or my fist… either one.

I reckon the ones that are caught will be charge with assault and battery.
I wonder if they throw flour on people who wear leather shoes.

There are a number of different statutes, depending on the state and city. The largest problem is that it’s usually a hit and run tactic. With throwing blood on someone they don’t wait around to be arrested. If they are caught, and nobody was really hurt, they’re usually charged with misdemeanor assult, criminal mischief, vandalism, or whatever else the arresting officers choose to charge them with. Incarceration is very rare, unless the person has a long track record of doing this kind of stuff. If somebody IS hurt, but, then felony assult becomes a possible charge. PETA has legal protection funds, and if a member is charged doing something in the name of the group then they’ll usually foot the bill to get it plead down to a misdemeanor with nothing more than a fine. They’ve also used a tactic in the past where they sue the person who stops and detains the PETA person who did the throwing. If a PETA liberal throws blood on a guy, and you tackle him and hold him down until police arrive, you can expect a summons.
Financial liability has to be handled in civil courts, and the destruction of clothing usually isn’t considered worth the bother. Suing an individual and ration them with papers, getting them to show up, and then collecting can be a real hassle if that person simply doesn’t want to cooperate. It has been done, but once again is rarely considered cost effectual.
Notice that they attack women and celebrities for in fur, but never go to biker rallies where everybody is in leather. Why do you reckon that is?
