  1. Well, my household is a 3 person household, myself, my spouse and my daugther (10 months ancient) and we spend roughly 300 dollars a month for food; that isn’t counting if we want to go out, but it’s rare that we go out for food. I shop at Whole Foods for organic grains and beans, I sometimes buy organic tofu and stuff from Trader Joe’s, and I buy hard-to-find vegan products for much cheaper than Whole Foods at this Japanese market near my house, they have really cheap tofu and soy products, udon, miso paste, and tons of fantastic food and drink etc. As for life vegan, I have not missed meat, but I do miss cheese a lot. I don’t miss eggs at all, not even a bit. I used to miss egg salad but I have found a vegan egg salad recipe that made it all much better. As for cheese, once in a blue moon I buy a vegetarian organic tub of blue cheese and delight in it. Nobody’s perfect. :)

  2. I reckon it’s more about trying to achieve the goal of life vegan than it is to be so strict you can’t do it at all.

Most days go by fine, I eat healthy and without killing any animals. There are other days where I yearn for cheese or eggs.

To sum up: Better to live as a vegan 30 days out of a month and grab an egg sandwhich or a slice of pizza once a month, than not be vegan even one day.

The longer you go in this way, the simpler it will be to resist those cravings or simply to not have them.

    Excellent luck!

  3. The toughest part is having the lobotomy. With that it’s all down hill.

  4. It’s not hard at all. It’s one of the simplest and most natural things I’ve ever done.

  5. If you do some research into the health effects of milk, cheese, and eggs, you’ll doubtless find going vegan less of a challenge. If you can’t give ‘em up to save your health, maybe you can do it to save the animals (a small research online will let you know the certainty-animals do suffer torture and death for their milk, cheese and eggs). Life vegan opens thousands of doors to new food and better health. Many of the cuisines from other cultures are naturally vegan, so you’re bound to learn new tasty foods. And although you might reckon you’ll miss the dairy products, there are tons of options. Soymilks, wonnnnderful soy ice creams and desserts, and some healthy cheese alternatives are all available. Once you make the switch, you’ll wonder why you didn’t do it ages ago. :) vegweb.com has an infinite number of recipes, with user ratings and comments to help you sort through the excellent ones. If you reckon it’d be too much to give up everything at once, try taking baby steps. Give up cheese one month, milk the next…whatever facility for you. And food for thought: We’re the only species on the planet that drinks the mammary secretions of another animal…Cow’s milk is breast milk from cow mothers for baby cows, the equivalent of our mother’s breast milk. Would you feel comfortable still drinking from your mom? Something to reckon about.

  6. More to the psychological potency.
But there are challenges when income among the meat intake majority.
Anyway, you said a lacto-ovo vegetarian, then it must not be any hard to be a vegan.

For me to be a vegan, with visited PETA, I went personally to a dairy farm near to my place, horrified with the certainty. Threafter I became a vegan. In fact I didn’t plot & regret to be a vegan now. Remember…I can’t eat most of the cakes, chocolate bar and junk food anymore).

Practically I could save my household (for not buying meat product) and pocket money (for not spending much on junk food). I been spending abt S$200 for charity every month.

(My wife, me, and 2 kids are vegan).

The advantage with life a vegan…I managed to learn there are also vegan products in the market, i.e cakes, mayonnaise, cheese, chocolate bar, junk food, ghee, toothpaste, etc). 4 years ago, there was no vegetarian restaurant around my place, but today, 7-8 restorants/foodstalls!. That’s when I realise “I’m not alone”.

By ideal, veggier or vegger must concern abt “non-wastage, resourcefulness, health, adequate food and nutrition, like, compassion and help those weak”. Apparently they also mostly non-smoker, non-alcoholic and less likely to chance. These will be another reduction factor.

You may certainly save money by life a vegan. Spend them enthusiastically on outings, vegan cuisine, and eat more fruits !

  7. How hard depends on the person everyone is different.
Most people find cheese and other dairy the toughest so it might be worth trying a few vegan cheese subsitute before if you are one such person. Soy icecream subsituts can also be excellent. Both soy cheese and soy icecream sometimes contains milk so be careful.
Like others have said look up sites like PETA and do research the certainty about what hapens can be a motivation aswell.
Another thought might be to cut your animal product intake by half every week for a month and slowly replace if you desire.
A honest few people especlay at the start do have problems keeping to it every day so dont feal terrible if you have an omlet or anything else once a blue moon as you go on you will doubtless find this will be less and less untill you just dont feal like any animal products.

Cost. it rearly depends on what you eat now. i found food was cheeper because of what i cut out but if you curently eat a relativly unhealthy vege you may find the cost increase but if you are already high in healthy green veg if you dont eat much vegan subsitute costs will not change much. Depending on your country vegan subsitute can be one of the most expensive things but you will doubtless find you feal like them less and less or atleast i did.

Gl with your decsion and dont let others discurage you. Also remember no one expects prefection and no one is perfict. Also it is virtualy imposible to cut out all animal products completly (even if you reckon you have) just do your best

  8. For me it wasn’t hard at all; I’d been vegetarian for many years though, so maybe that makes it simpler to make the switch.

I don’t know why people reckon it’s expensive, I’ve never found it so and I’m on a very low budget.

Congratulations to Tom Foolery, who with much instruction from V&V members can now spell ‘lobotomy’ correctly.

  9. I´ve made these experience….I reckon it isn´t so hard…..because there are many excellent vegetarien products in shops today….you´ve a fantastic choose today.

  10. i like ur special face. every1-this is mr.perfection! go eat a carrot

  11. I was a lacto-ovo veggie and I recently gave up dairy and went vegan. It is really hard because lots of products such as breakfast cereals and crackers have milk solids in them – even margarine has buttermilk in it! Still, there are products that you can buy that really don’t contain dairy but you’ll have to get used to reading the marks on EVERYTHING for a while until you know which brands go excellent and work for a vegan diet. Excellent luck!

  12. How hard is it?

It depends on the person and how they go about it. I did it gradually, so it was very simple.

For you, there’s only one way to find out. ;)

As for Trolls here – enstead of thumbs down, I’ve started clicking “report it”. Let’s all do this. They are unjust, abusive and are impeding on human progress.
